URI: The Surgical Strike : Enter Rs 100 CRORE club
Director Aditya Dhar’s Uri: The Surgical Strike will not only turn out be the first Rs 100 crore film of 2019 but also the first BLOCKBUSTER of this year. The film that released 10 days back has been soaring high at the box office. And in just nine days of its release, Uri starring Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam and Mohit Raina, has minted a whopping Rs 91.8 crore at the box office. The film raked in Rs 13.24 crore yesterday. Trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, shared the box office numbers on his social media handle. He tweeted, “#UriTheSurgicalStrike continues to make big noise at the BO… Should cross ₹ ? cr mark today [Day 10]… Second Sat is higher than first Sat [₹ 12.43 cr] and almost double of second Fri… [Week 2] Fri 7.66 cr, Sat 13.24 cr. Total: ₹ 91.84 cr. India biz. #Uri #HowsTheJosh.” It is expected that the film will enter Rs 100 crore club today. Our critic Dishya Sharma gave the film three-and-a-half stars and wrote, “If you loved watching movies like Border and L.O.C: Kargil, Uri: The Surgical Attack is a film for you. It will make you laugh and cry, and you’ll walk out of the theatre feeling proud of the soldiers, both on and off the screen.” Based on Indian Army’s 2016 surgical strike on terrorist camps in Pakistan in retaliation to the terror attack on an Army camp in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir, Uri released on January 11, 2019.
