Koffee with Karan : Hardik Pandya
A massive controversy surrounding Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul broke out since the ‘Koffee With Karan’ episode featuring the duo went on air. Hardik and Rahul were suspended pending inquiry for their allegedly ‘sexist’ and ‘derogatory’ remarks on women.
What Hardik said is absolutely wrong, but to treat him like a lawbreaker is unacceptable. He deserves a ban for what he said, maybe for a few matches (which he has served by being ruled out of the three-match series against Australia). A monetary fine would also make him understand the magnitude of the incident. But why is everyone hunting for his head? Hardik apologized for his comment and everyone deserves a chance after making their first mistake.
He is just a normal, fun-loving guy with a heavy purse who is trying to enjoy his life off the field. He is paid to perform and win matches on the field and he does that consistently, both with the bat and ball. He is an outspoken character and did say things which should not have, but he has already accepted his mistake and people should just let it go and give him a chance to do what he does the best – play cricket and win matches.
The tag- line of Koffee With Karan show is ‘Stop Making Sense’ and it is an entertainment show where a lot of public influencer-cum-Bollywood-superstars have said a lot about their love lives, their interests – which the ‘role models’, in our society, should not share with any youngsters. In a show which is notorious for its style of digging explicit answers out of people, and with an experienced and seasoned anchor like Karan Johar sitting and asking questions, any other 25-year-old would have wanted to make an immediate impact and not get criticized for being boring on the popular show.
